Beschreibung
This course is perfect for beginners who have enjoyed a taster class and would like to build confidence in their pottery skills, or for anyone looking for a creative and engaging activity over several weeks. Across 8 weeks, students will get more time to practise on the wheel with guided tuition, leaving the course with stronger skills, greater confidence, and several handmade pieces to take home. Beginner classes combine closely guided teaching with time for self-directed practice. Students will build on their knowledge of clay while also learning essential techniques such as turning and glazing. There will be plenty of opportunities to practise throwing at the wheel, ensuring that everyone leaves with new skills and the satisfaction of completing pieces from start to finish. Weekly Outline Week 1: Practising the fundamentals of throwing Week 2: Trimming work made in the first class Week 3: Throwing with larger amounts of clay, coning, wedging Week 4: Trimming and glazing Week 5–6: Working on your personal project Week 7: Finishing your project Week 8: Glazing What’s Included No extra costs: clay, glazes, and firings are all included in the course price Please prepare by cutting your nails short, wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (clay washes out easily), and bringing a tea towel and a plastic bag Attendance & Make-Up Lessons We understand that committing to 8 weeks can be challenging. Unfortunately, we cannot rearrange missed classes unless it is an emergency. Each student is entitled to one free make-up class, which can be arranged via email. If you know you will be absent, please contact the studio manager in advance so we can do our best to accommodate you. We especially recommend attending the 1st, 2nd, and 4th sessions, as these cover key foundation techniques.
