Service Description

This advanced course is designed for students who already have a solid foundation in pottery and are ready to challenge themselves with more complex forms and techniques. It is perfect for those who have completed our beginner course (or an equivalent elsewhere) and are comfortable centering at least 1kg of clay. Over six weeks, we will deepen your throwing, turning, handbuilding, and glazing skills while also introducing Raku techniques. By the end of the course, students will have gained the confidence to work on more ambitious projects and refine their craftsmanship. Weekly Outline Week 1: Plate and doughnut making (maximum of 2 plates per student to keep) Week 2: Teapot building — spout, lid, and body Week 3: Trimming and attachments Week 4: Raku throwing Week 5: Trimming of Raku pots Week 6: Raku firing What’s Included * No extra costs: clay, glazes, and firings are all included in the course price * Please prepare by cutting your nails short, wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (clay washes out easily), and bringing a tea towel and a plastic bag Attendance & Make-Up Lessons
We understand that committing to 6 weeks can be challenging. Unfortunately, we cannot rearrange missed classes unless it is an emergency. Each student is entitled to one free make-up class, which can be arranged via email. If you know you will be absent, please contact the studio manager in advance so we can do our best to accommodate you.
