Service Description

This is the one-and-only class in London where you repair our RAKU POTS HAND MADE by our studio’s expert potters and bring home your unique piece! You will be walked through the process of repairing your own choice of pot and get helped to achieve your amazing creations. All materials are provided, including a selection of pots to choose your favourite from. There will be other ceramics made by potters in the studio you can choose to upgrade for an additional fee . Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"),is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum; the method is similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, kintsugi is similar to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, an embracing of the flawed or imperfection. Kintsugi can relate to the Japanese philosophy of mushin (無心, "no mind"), which encompasses the concepts of non-attachment, acceptance of change, and fate as aspects of human life. Raku translate to the word “enjoyment”. Enjoy the process of repairing! Rakugi (Raku-Kintsugi) with be one way you can make sure not only you have a unique ceramic pieces but one of a kind in the world through this process after kintsugi it back together again. The workshop is £75 per person, including 1 piece to take home. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty to this session. There will be aprons available in the studio.

Cancellations must be made in writing by email or text. You may cancel your course within 7 days of purchase with a full refund. Cancellations within 7 days of the class, course, or workshop will not be refunded. If your class, course, or workshop starts sooner than that, please get in touch as soon as possible (nam@cernamic.com). Exchanges can be made within 7 days at our discretion. Of course, there are emergencies and unforeseen circumstances that will impact your attendance so our team will work with you to negotiate or rearrange the date.
