Service Description

This exclusive class in London offers a unique opportunity to repair your RAKU POTS HANDMADE by our studio’s skilled potters and take home your own one-of-a-kind piece! Guided by experienced ceramists, you'll receive instructions to restore your chosen pot, resulting in a truly remarkable creation. All materials are provided, including a selection of pots to choose your favourite from. There will be other ceramics made by potters in the studio you can choose to upgrade for an additional fee . Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"),is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum; the method is similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, kintsugi is similar to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, an embracing of the flawed or imperfection. Kintsugi can relate to the Japanese philosophy of mushin (無心, "no mind"), which encompasses the concepts of non-attachment, acceptance of change, and fate as aspects of human life. The workshop is £35 per person, including 1 piece to take home. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty to this session. There will be aprons available in the studio.
