Service Description
Discover the beautiful Japanese art of Kintsugi by repairing a handmade ceramic pot created by one of our studio potters. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn traditional-inspired repair techniques and leave with your own unique piece to take home. Guided by our experienced ceramicists, you'll restore a broken pot using the principles of Kintsugi, celebrating cracks and imperfections rather than hiding them. No previous experience is required, making this a relaxing and rewarding introduction to this timeless craft. What's Included * One handmade ceramic pot to repair and take home * All tools and materials provided * Step-by-step guidance from our experienced tutors A selection of handmade pots will be available for you to choose from. You may also upgrade to selected larger or more intricate pieces made by our studio potters for an additional fee. About Kintsugi Kintsugi (金継ぎ, meaning "golden joinery") is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by highlighting rather than concealing the cracks. Traditionally, broken pieces are rejoined using lacquer mixed or dusted with precious metals such as gold, silver or platinum. Beyond its technique, Kintsugi embraces the Japanese philosophy of **wabi-sabi**—finding beauty in imperfection—and reflects the idea that damage and repair become part of an object's history rather than something to hide. Bring Your Own Piece (Optional) You are welcome to bring your own broken ceramic piece instead of selecting one of ours. Please note: * All broken pieces must be present. Unfortunately, we cannot repair ceramics with missing fragments. * This workshop is designed as a hands-on learning experience, not a professional restoration service. Participants will repair their own pieces under the guidance of our tutors. * If your ceramic is particularly valuable or has significant sentimental importance, we recommend consulting a professional ceramic conservator or restorer instead. Important Information - Price: £35 per person (includes one handmade pot to repair and take home) - Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Aprons are provided. - Repaired pieces created during this workshop are not food safe and should be used for decorative purposes only. Age Requirement This workshop is suitable for participants aged 11 years and over. If booking for someone aged 11–17, please read the Age Requirements section of our Terms & Conditions before booking.

Reminders: - Clay, aprons and tools will be provided during the class. - Fingernails should be kept short for health and safety reasons. - Please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a bit of clay on. - Please do not wear any accessories or leave them around the studio if possible. - Please come 10 minutes prior to the start of the class, as this will allow you to sign in and get ready for class demonstration. - It is your responsibility to arrive on time for the class. Upon arriving to your class 30 minutes or later, we have the right to reject you joining the class without any refund or rescheduling. -Please check your confirmation to ensure you arrive at the correct studio to the correct class.
