What is the course about?
This is a 6 evening ceramics course (2 hrs per week) for beginners who would like to experience and explore the major ways of making pottery which gives opportunity to develop and become independent enough to make your own work as the course progresses.
What will we cover?
Hands on step by step practical projects to create finished fired pieces that explore different methods of working with the medium.
Week 1: Introduction to hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling, introduction to throwing.
Week 2: Slab building, fettling
Week 3: Press Mould
Week 4: Advanced throwing session
Week 5: Surface decoration (texturing, resist, drawing) glazing.
Week 6: Pick out specific technique and continue.
What will I achieve?
Able to Make simple forms using the techniques of:
- Slab building.
Basic knowledges about clay and glazes.

When you've completed the course, you can move onto our intermediate course / advanced course.
